# splats.ai — full reference for LLMs > splats.ai provides browser hosting and a public gallery for Gaussian splats, including splats reconstructed from supported videos. As of 2026-09-17 UTC, video and splat-file uploads, product demos, and a small public gallery are live; all displayed plans are planned and unavailable. ## What is a Gaussian splat? Gaussian splatting (3DGS) is a method for capturing and rendering photorealistic 3D scenes as millions of colored 3D gaussians. The splats.ai viewer can render a supported capture interactively in the browser for orbiting and zooming. ## About splats.ai The [About page](https://splats.ai/about) explains who splats.ai is for, how ready public Gaussian splats are viewed, shared, and embedded, which upload and processing paths are supported, and why the listed pricing tiers remain planned and unavailable. ## How it works 1. Sign in with Google. 2. Upload a supported splat file or an MP4, MOV, or WebM video at `https://splats.ai/upload`. Browser camera recording is also available on supported browsers. SOG is delivered directly; PLY, SPLAT, SPZ, and KSPLAT files are optimized to SOG, and supported videos are reconstructed into a viewable splat. 3. Uploaded video clips must be 5–300 seconds. The default size limit is 100 MB (100,000,000 bytes); if larger uploads are enabled for an account, the maximum is 2 GiB (2,147,483,648 bytes). Browser camera recordings support 5–120 seconds. These limits are not an offer to enroll in a paid plan. 4. New uploads stay unlisted until the author makes them public from the dashboard. Public, ready works with a delivery asset can appear in Explore and on creator pages. 5. View and share a ready work at `https://splats.ai/s/` and embed it with `https://splats.ai/embed/`. Its Details section can show purpose, capture device, source video duration and frame rate, aligned or used frame counts and frame dimensions, training iterations, Gaussian count, processing time, and upload date. Fields without values are omitted; older works may show only a subset. - Video processing selects a sharp frame for the cover and reads the capture device from video metadata when available. Authors can change the cover and capture device later from the work page. - For direct 3DGS uploads, authors can supply their own cover image. Author-uploaded covers have photo metadata, including location data, removed before upload. - Sharing cards and `3DModel` JSON-LD use the work's cover when present. Works without a cover fall back to the site's default sharing image. ## Viewer & embed - Viewer: browser-based Gaussian splat viewing, designed for desktop and mobile. Controls exposed by the app include drag to orbit and scroll to zoom. - The homepage includes an explicit product demo backed by a sample asset. Videos are reconstructed into a viewable splat, subject to the video limits above. - Delivery: SOG is served directly. - Large-scene LOD streaming is not verified as live. ## Visibility & discovery - Public records that are ready and have a delivery asset can be listed in the gallery and discovered.
